Malaysia: Bernama's Jelajah 1jiwa Convoy Arrives In Terengganu On Wednesday

KUALA TERENGGANU (Terengganu, Malaysia), July 12 (Bernama) – The Malaysian National News Agency, Bernama’s Jelajah 1Jiwa convoy arrived at the Wisma Darul Iman in Kuala Terengganu (Malaysia's east coast) on Wednesday to a warm welcome by Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman. Also present to welcome the arrival of the convoy of 15 high-powered motorcycles at the Wisma Darul Iman were State Youth, Sports and Human Resources Committee chairman Rozi Mamat and Terengganu Bernama Bureau chief Zalina Maizan Ngah @ Engah and nine of its staff. The convoy began their journey from Kota Bharu, Kelantan (Malaysia’s east coast) at 9am and used the coastal route that took them three hours and 30 minutes to reach Kuala Terengganu. Ahmad Razif, who was thrilled with the arrival of the convoy, spent 30 minutes with the participants including 10 crew members and asked about their experience travelling in the past five days. “I congratulate Bernama for organising such a convoy in conjunction with the agency’s 50th anniversary celebration. Bernama has been serving the community and the broadcasting industry for decades and still continues to do so. “I was made to understand that this convoy is not only making a stop at every Bernama state bureau office, but the participants are also going down to the field to meet the retirees who had been serving Bernama for years as well as the general public,” he told reporters after sending off the convoy to Pahang. Ahmad Razif was highly impressed by the spirit of the convoy participants who had been travelling quite a distance in the past five days and faced various challenges, in their mission to introduce Bernama to the public. “It is most touching that the convoy participants are also giving out contributions to the veterans who had served the agency, proving Bernama’s concern for the well-being of its former employees. I hope the convoy will reach its destination safely,” he said. Convoy’s Chef De Mission, Amrizan Madian, said he was overwhelmed by the warm welcome given by Terengganu’s top leadership to all participants. He said that each day, the convoy is scheduled to travel between 200 and 300 kilometres and thus far they have reached every destination according to the designated period. Amrizan also recalled that during the journey from Kota Bharu, as soon as the convoy entered the scenic coastal road from Penarik in Setiu, the participants began to slow down to enjoy the panoramic beauty of the South China Sea. -- BERNAMA
