Malaysia Condemns Attacks On Saudi Arabia

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Nov 4 (Bernama) -- Malaysia, in condemning missile attacks on Saudi Arabia, has expressed hopes that the perpetrators will be brought to justice. Malaysia's Foreign Ministry in a statement Friday said the attacks were a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and constituted a grave threat to regional and global peace and security. "Malaysia stands firm in solidarity with Saudi Arabia in its determination to preserve the safety and stability of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia," it said. On October 27, a Yemeni Houthi ballistic missile known as Burkan-1 was launched towards Makkah City, but the missile was intercepted and destroyed by Saudi ground forces 65 kilometres from the city. A similar attack by the Houthis was carried out on a Saudi Airbase in Taif on October 10. The foreign ministry said Malaysia hopes that the ongoing conflict in the region would be resolved through political and diplomatic channels. -- BERNAMA
