Malaysia Congratulates Trump On US Presidential Win

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Nov 9 (Bernama) -- The Government of Malaysia has congratulated Donald Trump on his election as the 45th President of the United States of America. The Foreign Ministry, in a statement on Wednesday, said Malaysia highly values the close and cordial relations with the United States, signified through the Comprehensive Partnership on a wide range areas of cooperation including politics, economy, security and defence. "Malaysia hopes to continue working closely with the new US administration to further strengthen bilateral ties, and promote strong, friendly relations between the peoples of the two nations," it said. The Republican Trump defeated his rival Democrat Hillary Clinton in a close race in Tuesday's presidential election, pulling off a major upset after what some have described as a bitter and, at times, ugly campaign. --BERNAMA
