Malaysia To Expand Formula SAE To Asean In 2017
CYBERJAYA (Selangor, Malaysia), Oct 10 (Bernama) -- Malaysia will introduce its local automotive-based student design competition, the Formula Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), to ASEAN countries next year.
Malaysia Automotive Institute Chief Executive, Madani Sahari, said the Formula SAE targeted the participation of 30 public and private universities from 10 ASEAN countries.
"This collaborative effort will help boost the interest and exposure of Malaysia's car industry regionally and globally.
"The future of vehicle manufacturing will require human capital that can cope with the ever-increasing complexity of car products and processes.
"The Formula SAE is an important step to accelerate the growth of talent to develop advanced competencies and capabilities within the car industry," he told a media conference on the Formula SEA ASEAN here Monday.
Madini also presented a cheque for US$8,439 (RM35,000) and a plaque to Universiti Teknologi Mara for emerging as the Best Overall Team at the Formula SAE held from Oct 5 to Oct 9 at the Speedway Plus Circuit in USJ.
Seven teams from six universities competed in the multi-stage design competition to test the knowledge and skills of engineering students in automotive technology.
The Formula SAE covers research, design, manufacturing, testing, developing, marketing and management aspects of the car industry.
