Malaysia To Host 56th FIATA Congress - MOT

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), Oct 11 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has been selected to host the 56th International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) Congress in October next year to facilitate the super efficient movement of goods across international boundaries. Malaysia's Transport Ministry, in a statement, on Monday said the congress was timely given today's economic climate. It said the international business had become increasingly borderless and more companies were expanding their markets into the global arena, resulting in significant increase in the demand for supply chain and logistics support. "The components to success include influence of customs policies, worldwide legislative developments in transport and the latest in technology, training and guidelines in security and safety. "These significant issues will be addressed during the congress, including opportunities for regional groups to meet and resolve local industry problems," the ministry said. Themed "Logistics Bridging Global Trade", the 56th FIATA World Congress in Kuala Lumpur, from October 4 to 8 next year aimed at facilitating trade, reducing cost of doing business and contributing to enhancing productivity and efficiency of the economy. FIATA is a non-governmental organisation which represents an industry of about 40,000 forwarding and logistics firms employing 10 million people in 160 countries. --BERNAMA
