Malaysia, Maldives Sign MoU To Strengthen Bilateral Ties

KUALA LUMPUR, July 27 (Bernama) -- A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between Malaysia and Maldives to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries in the field of culture, arts and heritage. The MoU was signed, here, Wednesday by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture secretary-general, Ab Ghaffar A. Tambi and Maldives ambassador to Malaysia, Mohamed Fahmy Hassan at the Malaysia Tourism Centre (MaTiC). Malaysia and Maldives, being Islamic countries and having similarities in the area of culture and arts, are hopeful that the signing of the MoU will strengthen cooperation in culture, arts and heritage as these are pivotal areas that will help foster friendly relations. Both countries also believe that the signing of the MoU will boost the principles of mutual respect for sovereignty, reciprocity and mutual benefit, thus providing opportunities for Malaysians and Maldivians to learn about each other’s distinctive culture and traditions. -- BERNAMA
