Malaysia Reaps Two Awards At WSIS

KUALA LUMPUR, June 14 (Bernama) -- Malaysia won two awards at the 2017 World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) being held on June 12-16 in Geneva, Switzerland. The award was presented by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). In the local and regional cooperation category, CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM) won an award through the project, Information Sharing Analysis of Malware threats in Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). Meanwhile, Universiti Multimedia Malaysia’s project on detection of protein in latex gloves won the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Science application category. Ministry of Communications and Multimedia Malaysia (KKMM) deputy secretary-general (Operations) Mohd Ali Mohamad Nor Malaysia expressed pride at the achievement. "These victories symbolise Malaysia's achievements in the field of science and technology on par with the societies of developed countries in the world," he said on behalf of KKMM Minister Dr Salleh Said Keruak at the event.
