Malaysian Air Force Raising New Technology Expertise

KUALA LUMPUR, May 30 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) is set to raise mastery of new technology among it personnel for more efficient assets usage and to strengthen its position as a defence force. Its chief, General Rodzali Daud said RMAF needed to master technology in all aspects, whether operational, technical or management to take the force to greater heights. "Mastering the latest technology will ensure RMAF will have the capacity to emerge as a highly respected force," he said at a press conference in conjunction with RMAF's 55th anniversary on June 1 here, Wednesday. Rodzali said RMAF was moving in tandem with new technological advancements, especially in the areas of operation and flight training, radar system, weaponry system, communications system, and information technology. He said with each new equipment procured by RMAF, its personnel needed to raise their skills level and expertise so that usage of its assets would be more efficient. "It is the duty of every RMAF personnel to improve their knowledge so that they will be more professional and efficient, especially when handling the equipment, systems and new technology." He said RMAF's capability in applying technology during "Operasi Daulat" in Sabah following the armed intrusion by militants from southern Philippines had contributed to the success of the operation. The RMAF's anniversary is officially celebrated on June 1 but the date coincides with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's birthday. Hence, the RMAF will celebrate its 55th annniversary on June 7 instead, at its base in Kuantan in Peninsular Malaysia's east coast state of Pahang. -- BERNAMA
