Malaysian Embassy And Businessmen Help Orphans In Jakarta

By Azeman Ariffin JAKARTA, June 19 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Embassy and Malaysian businessmen here joined forces to help orphans in conjunction with the month of Ramadan. Fifty orphans from the Nur Madaniyah Foundation, under the supervision of the Indonesia Ulama Council, (MUI) received Aidilfitri (Eid ul-Fitr) money and schooling supplies which were jointly contributed by the embassy here and a group of businessmen under the Malaysia Chamber of Commerce in Jakarta (MCJ). The Malaysian ambassador to Indonesia Zahrain Mohamed Hashim said the programme was the social responsibility of the embassy and Malaysian businessmen in the republic. “We are always sensitive to a lot of the less fortunate Indonesians especially those staying close to the embassy complex,” he said. The orphans were each given US$17.57 (Rp250,000) in Aidilfitri money, school bag and school supplies. They were also feted to a breaking-of-the-fast and performed the Maghrib prayers at the embassy complex on Saturday night. Also present at the ceremony were Zahrain’s wife Che Mahani Ismail and 100 family members and staff of the embassy and members of MCJ headed by its treasurer Ahmad Hazriq Azalan. -- BERNAMA
