Malaysian Landslide: Death Toll Rises To 30

BATANG KALI (Selangor, Malaysia), Dec 22 (Bernama) -- The search and rescue (SAR) operation for the recovery of remaining victims of the major landslide tragedy in Malaysia entered its seventh day on Thursday. The landslide tragedy at the Father’s Organic Farm campsite in Gohtong Jaya, that struck at 2.42 am last Friday (Dec 16) has so far left 30 people dead with three victims still missing. The operation resumed Thursday morning after it was suspended at 10 pm Wednesday. Four Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) detectors, which were used for the first time to detect human bodies in Malaysia, were brought to the scene to help with the SAR operation. Malaysian Inspector-General of Police Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani said police are in the process of matching the data of the victims still missing in the tragedy with the police reports lodged by the family members and next of kin. He was also confident that the next of kin (of the victims) will come forward to lodge a report of any family members yet to be identified or believed to still be missing. -- BERNAMA
