Malaysian PM, Wife Hosted Breaking-Of-Fast Event At Sri Perdana

PUTRAJAYA (Malaysia), May 30 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak (centre) and his wife, Rosmah Mansor, hosted a breaking of fast event at their official residence at Seri Perdana, here Monday.
Cabinet ministers and deputy ministers, chief ministers, foreign dignitaries and senior government officials were among the 2,000 guests who attended the event.
Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi (right) and Chief Secretary of the Government Dr Ali Hamsa.
At the event, Najib and Rosmah also presented Ramadan donations to 100 orphans from Al Kausar Welfare Home, Bangi; Al Fateh Orphanage, Kajang; and Maahad Tahfiz Az Zean, Sungai Buloh.
After breaking the fast, Najib and the guests performed Maghrib, Isyak and Tarawih prayers.
Meanwhile, in his latest posting on his blog www.najibrazak.com, the prime minister called on Muslims in the country to focus more intently on alms-giving and lending a helping hand to the underprivileged groups.
He said he believed that each donation, no matter how small, would mean a lot to the receiver and would bring smiles to their faces.
“Let us give alms to those in need...whatever we can afford, even if it is just a pack of dates,” he said, adding that reward of alms-giving was great, especially in the blessed month of Ramadan, as narrated in the Quran. (photoBERNAMA)
