Malaysia's Labuan MAQIS Seizes Container Loaded With Frozen Fish From Vietnam

LABUAN (Sabah, Malaysia), Aug 11 (Bernama) -- The Labuan branch of the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services (MAQIS) Department has seized a 20-footer container containing 11,700kg of frozen fish, believed to be imported illegally from Vietnam. The Tilapia and Pangasius fish weighing 2,000kg and 9,700kg respectively, worth of RM66, 600 are still inside the container which is being detained for further investigations at Labuan Liberty Port. Labuan Maqis director Nazrul Azman Mat Rahim told Bernama that the container which was detained on July 25 was imported by a local importer without proper documentation. “The case will be handled by the Labuan Agriculture Department,” he said.
