Malaysia's PM Arrives In Brunei

By Abdul Aziz Harun BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Oct 6 (Bernama) – Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak arrived here today to attend a royal banquet in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee reign of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah. The special aircraft bringing him and his wife Rosmah Mansor touched down at the Brunei International Airport at noon. Among those on hand to welcome them were Brunei Education Minister Pehin Suyoi Osman and Malaysia’s High Commissioner to Brunei, Ghulam Jelani Khanizaman. Immediately after his arrival, Najib headed to the As-shaliheen Mosque to perform the Friday prayers. Malaysia’s King Sultan Muhammad V will also grace the banquet besides a number of Malay rulers and heads of government. The airport was a hive of activity with plane after plane landing bringing the foreign leaders including from South East Asia and royal families from the Middle East. Among the leaders scheduled to attend the banquet are Indonesian President Joko Widodo, Myanmar de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi, Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Cha-O-Cha. -- BERNAMA
