Malaysia's Sarawak Welcomes Singaporean Investors Wishing To Set Up Data Centre

KUCHING (Sarawak, Malaysia), July 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysia’s Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Tun Openg welcomes investors from Singapore who are interested in setting up their data centre in the state. “If you (Singapore) want to have your data centre, you can come to east Malaysian state Sarawak, I give you space…we got the energy, our resources in term of hydro energy in Bakun, that area have a lots of water and can be another source of energy such as floating solar (solar energy),” he said. He said this in his address when opening the ASEAN-Australian Engineering Congress (AAEC2022) held at the Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak (TEGAS) Digital Village here Tuesday. Meanwhile, Abang Johari said through the AAEC, he hoped engineers from all sectors and industries would come together to discuss research and solution to achieve the state’s Fourth Industrial Revolution (IR 4.0) and digital transformation, while optimising safety and sustainability. “We must ensure that our engineers are prepared for an increasingly digital future, amidst the increasing challenge to build sustainable communities to overcome the impacts of climate change, to be resilient during uncertain geopolitical and economic climates and to have responsible consumption and consistent production,” he said. He added that in Sarawak, there is an urgent need to enhance productivity to remain competitive and at the same time, create a clean, healthy, and resilient environment that would last for generations. -- BERNAMA
