Maneuvers of CSTO rapid reaction force

Almaty, October 15, 2009 (Khabar) - Today the Military and Engineering Institute of Radio Electronics and Communications in Almaty has witnessed the meeting of the Defence Ministers of Kazakhstan and Belarus Adilbek Dzhaksybekov and Leonid Maltsev. The meeting happened on the threshold of the Interaction-2009 strategic command and staff exercises.

Adilbek Dzhaksybekov, Defence Minister of RK:
- Belarus has very good industrial enterprises in military sector and we have recently discussed the terms of repairs and modernization of our equipment.

Additionally, the ministers discussed issues of military staff training. Currently, almost 200 of Kazakhstan’s military men are undertaking training in universities of the Belarusian Defense Ministry. The colonel-general Leonid Maltsev thanked Kazakhstan for its work, directed at the development of military and technological cooperation and noted that this mutually profitable cooperation is developing rapidly.

Leonid Maltsev, Defence Minister of Belarus:
- We have never struggled with each other. Since, we were fighting with our common enemies together, we can develop cooperation is the military sector.

It is preparation for forthcoming exercises. They become the first practical test of the Collective forces of operative reaction created in this year in exercising in coordinated operations. Collective forces should be ready to counteract not only to the military and border conflicts, but also to stop activity of terrorist and extremist groupings, the drug traffic and other kinds of the organized crime. Plus they should be able to make the prevention and liquidation of consequences of emergency situations. These forces are already called different from others: both on quality, and on power.
