Its Community Financial Services Senior Advisor Mohd Haniff Suadi said the Maybank Islamic community programme, in partnership with Islamic Relief, implemented in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore, which recorded the highest number of recipients involved.
“We are very pleased that the programme this time can help the poor, not only in Malaysia, but also those in need in the neighbouring countries.
“We have a total of 16,666 recipients in Malaysia, 18,500 in the Philippines, 3,400 of urban poor in Singapore and 20,000 victims of natural disasters in Indonesia,” he said to reporters at the aid handing over ceremony here Wednesday which was also attended by Maybank Islamic Director Dr Afifi Al-Akiti and Islamic Relief Malaysia’s Services Division head Sharlina Adnan.
Mohd Haniff said the distribution of aid would be held in Aceh, Indonesia, Mindanao in the Philippines and Geylang Serai in Singapore.
