Meeting in municipal administration of Almaty

Almaty, July 30, 2009 (Khabar) - In Almaty deputies of maslikhats, city and district officials have discussed the socio-economic development of the city. It is planned to decrease the level of unemployment, create new jobs, and accelerate the construction of nursery schools, primary schools and hospitals. Also attendees discussed the issues concerning the development of housing and public utilities, and reformation of the housing cooperatives. Recently, a special institution of managing directors, which is to report back to the housing cooperative, has been created in Almaty. But only few housing cooperative supported this idea. Akhmetzhan Yesimov invited deputies to the enlarged meeting with chairpersons of housing cooperatives and told about the preparation to the Asian Games.

Akhmetzhan Yesimov, head of Almaty:
- Recently, I have visited all underground stations. The president allocated extra 14 billion tenge for the construction of the underground and all deputies can control the use of this money.

The main structures of such stations as “Raiymbek”, “Zhybek-Zholy”, “Almaly” and “Alatau” have already been finished and the construction of “Abai”, “Baykonur” and “Auyezov theatre” are currently underway. Workers are constructing pedestrian subways and engineering structures. Three stations saw the installation of an escalator. As part of the Road Map programme almost 23 billion tenge was allocated for the implementation of 381 projects. These projects assisted in the creation of 20 thousand new jobs. Also, as part of the Road Map programmes the reconstruction of schools, hospitals and electrical networks is currently underway. In general, for the first six months of 2009, the city used 41 billion tenge and employed 13 thousand people. It is planned that this year the city budget will be replenished with 12 billion tenge.
