Minister meets French foreign ministry officials

Manama, Nov. 23 (BNA): Minister's Assistant for Foreign Affairs, Abdullah bin Faisal Al Dossari, met with Director of the North Africa and Middle East of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Jérôme Bonnafont, in Paris, where relations between the two countries were affirmed as well as the importance of promoting opportunities for cooperation in various fields. Ambassador Bonnafont praised the progress in the Kingdom of Bahrain as well as bilateral relations between the two countries, affirming his countries keenness to bolster these ties. Al Dossari also met with the Ambassador at Large for Human Rights, Patrizianna Sparacino-Thiellay, and discussed the development in the promotion and protection of human rights under the reform project of His Majesty the King and the government's program on the respect of human rights, the preservation of their dignity and the achievement of sustainable development goals. This is in addition to the progress made by the Kingdom of Bahrain to strengthen the basic political, civil and religious liberties to be at the forefront of countries that condone tolerance, moderation, openness and respect for others as well as the Kingdom's continued commitment to human rights and the adoption of constructive cooperation with the relevant international organizations. Al Dossari stated that the Kingdom of Bahrain has completed the legal and preventive structure by activating and strengthening the independence of the National Institution for Human Rights according to the Paris Principles and the establishment of the Bureau for Complaints and Grievances of the Ministry of Interior, the Prisoners and Detainees Rights Commission and an independent unit of investigation at the Public Prosecution. This is in addition to the implementation of educational programs to promote tolerance and the values of national unity and peaceful coexistence among all religions and creeds, cultures and civilizations. Ambassador Sparacino-Thiellay praised the most important achievements in the field of human rights that were highlighted during the meeting.
