Ministerial Committee discusses Tubli Bay development plans

Manama, May 6 (BNA): The Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects has reviewed the progress of the Tubli Bay development aimed to introduce the approved environmental standards and requirements. The meeting is in line with His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Slaman Al Khalifa’s order to implement the Tubli Bay development plans, preserve its natural environment, address the damages to its wildlife and marine life, as well as beautify the region surrounding it. Chairing the committee’s virtual meeting, Deputy Premier and the panel chairman, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, stressed that HRH Premier’s interest in the Tubli Bay issue reflects his keenness to provide a healthy and secure atmosphere for everyone, which will contribute to achieving one of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG 6 related to clean water and sanitation. During the meeting, the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning highlighted the projects that it had already begun implementing to develop Tubli Bay and preserve it, adding that the projects, worth BD 9.5 million, will be completed in 2021. The committee also discussed the infrastructure requirements of the first phase of the East Sitra housing project, including 1055 units. In this regard, the Deputy Premier directed the service ministries and departments to coordinate with the Ministry of Finance and National Economy concerning the financing options of the infrastructure projects of the first phase of the East Sitra housing project. The Ministerial Committee for Development and Infrastructure Projects discussed assigning the inspection of construction projects to the private sector, within the development plan of the Benayat Building Permit. In this context, the Deputy Premier requested the Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning to consult as many engineering offices as possible to be informed about their visions regarding the same matter.
