Minor fire breaks out at Chiang Mai hotel, no casualties

CHIANG MAI, THAILAND, November 7 (TNA) - A minor fire broke out at a hotel in Chiang Mai Province in the Thai North before dawn on Monday, but the situation was quickly brought under control and there was no report on any casualty. The fire broke out at a laundry room on the basement of the Tarin Hotel in the northern resort province at about 3am when the billowing smoke prompted hundreds of tourists to flee their rooms and rushed out of the 7-storey building. About 100 Chinese and Thai tourists stayed at the hotel when the incident took place, while 10 fire engines rushing to the scene could bring the fire under control within 40 minutes. A police investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fire and estimated the cost of damages. (TNA)
