MJIIT’s Japan Day 2022 Promotes Collaboration With Industries, Universities
KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 29 (Bernama) – The Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT)’s Japan Day 2022, held Tuesday, has potentially further promoted collaboration with Japanese companies and universities for its sustainable and resilient development.
Japan’s Ambassador to Malaysia Katsuhiko Takahashi said he hoped that Japanese academic staff will continue to engage in various activities including collaborative education, joint research, internship and student exchange programmes – all of which would help MJIIT to establish a more solid basis.
“Mutual understanding that results from exchanges between people with different cultural backgrounds are extremely important in fostering trust and developing friendly relations between countries and people.
“I hope that this event will provide an opportunity for everyone to better understand Japanese people and culture.
“I sincerely hope that the occasion would be a catalyst to develop new ideas and directions for further collaboration between MJIIT and industries,” he said during his opening remarks on the event, held at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur, here.
Takahashi added as MJIIT symbolises the successful cooperation between Japan and Malaysia, Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Yoshimasa Hayashi was very much impressed by the institution’s efforts over the past decade.
“Our minister visited MJIIT last October and he was impressed to see the efforts done in providing young Malaysian and international students with Japanese-style engineering and Japanese language education.
“Let us keep up this momentum and have the Look East Policy upgraded to the next level so that both Japan and Malaysia can contribute and continue to benefit from it,” he said.
Themed “Connecting Industry through Innovation”, MJIIT’s Japan Day 2022 which involved a number of selected stakeholders that largely pledged their full support since the establishment of MJIIT in 2011, was attended by more than 400 people.
A special forum, titled “Japanese Core Values & the Reformation of Minds and Behaviours in Malaysia”, was the highlight of the event.
Apart from this forum, the launching of MJIIT’s signature projects – which includes the Sangaku-Renkei (Industry-Academia Network), the Five Japanese Core Values, and a book entitled ‘Commemorating MJIIT’s 10 Years of Achievement’ – were also among the much-awaited sessions.
Other activities that took place the same day were the i-Kohza Open Exhibition, MJIIT Industry Exhibition, Innovation Showcase and Japanese Cultural Activities.
