Moderate Earthquake Jolts Pangalengan, Bandung District

BANDUNG, W Java, Nov 7 (Antara)- An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter Scale jolted Pangalengan, Bandung District, West Java Province, on Sunday at 6:44 a.m. local time. The quake's epicenter was located at 7.25 degree Southern Latitude and 107.54 degree Eastern longitude, some seven kilometers south of Pengalengan town, or 37 km south of Bandung City, and at a depth of 10 km, Dr Daryono of the Meteorological, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said here, Sunday. Having an intensity at III MMI (Modified Mercalli Intensity), the tremor was felt in Pengalegan, Cibeureum, Purbasari, Kertamanah, Puncakmara, Cicayur, Pasirangin, Santosa, Palima, Dewata, and Ciheulang. Several local inhabitants were shocked and rushed out of their homes when the quake occurred.
