Mohammed Bin Rashid Charity Establishment allocates AED5 million for Somalia relief

DUBAI, 12th April, 2017 (WAM) -- The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian and Charity Establishment has allocated AED5 million for relief projects to assist millions of Somalis affected by the food shortages.
The move follows the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with the support of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to send urgent relief aid to the brotherly people of Somalia.
The Establishment set up an operation room to study round the clock the appropriate mechanisms to speed up dispatching humanitarian aid, and specifying urgent relief priorities to those in need, in co-ordination with the UAE Embassy in the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Charity Establishment team conducted field contacts to establish priorities and best means to get the relief aid there as soon as possible.
Earlier the Establishment distributed more than 900 tonnes of food stuff and other basic requirements to the people of Somalia. It had also built 15 hospitals and clinics, seven of which are obstetrics and maternity. http://wam.ae/en/details/1395302608104
