Monthly establishes group to entertain quake-stricken children

TEHRAN,Sept.3(MNA) – A Persian monthly on family issues has called upon people and cultural institutions to join a cultural group the magazine has established to organize entertainment programs for the quake-stricken children in East Azarbaijan Province. The group entitled the Game, Book and Happiness Caravan will presented books, and dolls and other toys among the children, Shahrzad announced in a press release on Sunday. The group also plans to travel across the quake-stricken regions to hold games for the children. On August 11, two successive earthquakes measuring 6.2 and 6 on the Richter scale hit the cities of Ahar, Varzaqan and Haris in East Azarbaijan Province. The strong earthquakes left thousands of people homeless in villages. Official figures put the number of dead at 306 and injured at over 2000.
