Monument to Bogenbay batyr set up in Yereimentau
Astana, August 03, 2009 (Khabar) - The ceremonial opening of the monument to Bogenbay batyr has taken place in the city of Yreimentau in the Akmola region today. This is a notable event for all the residents of the district as they collected about four million tenge from their own assets for putting up the memorial. 104 million were allocated from the regional budget. It was people’s initiative to eternize the memory of the legendary warrior and they turned to the regional governor with this request. A famous architect Shota Ualikhanov is the author of the sculptural composition. The outline was made by Kaztay Nasyrov. From now on, the Bogenbay’s sculpture cast of bronze will become one of the sights of Yereimentau and add to decoration of the city park.
Albert Rau, governor of Akmola region:
- We are opening a monument to the fighter from the number of national heroes. A history teacher will cover the glorious victories and patriotism beside this monument and young recruits will be taking oaths of utter devotion for their homeland – the republic of Kazakhstan.
Kaztay Nasyrov, sculptor:
- The height of the monument to Bogenbay batyr makes up about 6 meters. The stand amounts to 6 meters. So, it’s 12 meters altogether.
A concert and a horse show were held on the occasion of the holiday here. Participants from all the regions of the republic arrived to take part in one of the most spectacular types of horse cavalry competitions called alaman-baiga.
