Most youths promise to do good for Thai Queen

BANGKOK, August 10 (TNA) - A latest opinion survey on 1,121 Thai youths, aged 12-24, in Bangkok and nearby provinces, found that the majority of them, or 53 per cent, have promised to be good and honest and contribute to the society to honour Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on the occasion of Her Majesty’s 80th birthday on August 12, 2012. Bangkok University, which conducted the survey, also reported that 18 per cent of the young respondents have said they will pray for the good health of Her Majesty the Queen and 12 per cent have promised to work and study hard. The Bangkok Poll also found that the best known development project of Her Majesty the Queen is the Queen’s arts and crafts support project, followed by reforestation and turtle conservation projects. Asked what they will also promise to please their mothers on the occasion of the National Mothers' Day, which also falls on every Augist 12, nearly 50 per cent of the respondents said they will study hard; while the rest said they will stay away from gambling, narcotics and disputes with their mothers. Asked what they will act on the National Mothers’ Day to show love to their mothers, 48 per cent of the young respondents said they will hug and kiss their mothers, 45 per cent will present garlands and jasmine flowers to their mothers and 44 per cent will stay with their mothers. Meanwhile, Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra presided over a ceremony to mark the National Mothers' Day at a school in Bangkok where her son, Supasek Amornchat, studies. Yingluck admitted that her work has cut her time with her only son but she will try to give as much time with him as she can; while her son said he would like his mother to bring him to Pattaya.(TNA)
