Myanmar people arrested at Thai-Malaysian border
SONGKHLA, Oct 8 (TNA) – Soldiers and border patrol police arrested 23 Myanmar people in the forest at Thai-Malaysia border as they entered Thailand illegally and waited to cross the border to work in the third country.
The arrest came after the police learned that a group of suspicious persons had hidden in the forest at the border in Songkhla. They tried to flee but 23 persons, including 19 men and four women were detained for questioning.
They said they had no passports and arrived in a Thai southern border province on September 25 by a pick-up truck. They hid in the forest in Songkhla’s Hat Yai district and were moved to the Thai-Malaysian border in Sadao district, waiting to cross the border. Each of them paid 20,000 baht to the broker to work in the third country.
The police have expanded investigation to arrest those, who have involved in smuggling these illegal migrant workers.
All Myanmar people will be later deported to their home country. (TNA)
