NAC milestone in Bahrain's history

Manama, Feb. 12 (BNA): Moroccan Ambassador to Bahrain Ahmed Rashid Khatabi stressed that Bahrain's celebration of the National Action Charter (NAC) anniversary is an assertion of the popular unanimity on the referential document and resolve to go ahead with implementing the royal will of promoting the state of law and achieving comprehensive development. In an interview with Bahrain News Agency (BNA), the Moroccan ambassador said that the charter, which was approved by an overwhelming majority of 98.4% of the votes in a referendum in which 90.3% took part, is an embodiment of continuity of the spirit of cohesion and a renewal of allegiance. He hailed Bahrain's strides in carrying out the reform project of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa with the support of His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier. The Moroccan ambassador added that since the establishment of the modern state of Bahrain in the era of its founder Ahmed Al Fateh as an Arab and Islamic country in 1783, Bahrain has kept itself away from any seclusive tendency and remained loyal to the glory of its identity as an attractive venue for cultural interaction and ethnic and religious pluralism. The ambassador asserted that openness has remained a characteristic feature of Bahrain since the declaration of its independence in the era of late Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa early in the seventies. He pointed out the role of the National Action Charter and the constitution in promoting the democratic march and human rights in tune with the national fundamentals and the requirements of public order. He also underlined the role of the charter in promoting a free economy, encouraging personal initiatives, diversifying the economy and facilitating flow of investments. He described that as a strategic trend towards achieving the ambitious Economic Vision 2030. The Moroccan ambassador wished Bahrain every success in bringing about more institutional achievements to foster a secure and cohesive community and further bolster its regional and Arab role within the framework of its foreign policy which is based on balance, relations of good neighbourliness, protecting the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of countries and boosting its international role in promoting rapprochement between civilisations and cultures.
