Nan, U-Thong to be promoted sustainable tourism development areas
BANGKOK, February 11 (TNA) - Thailand's Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (DASTA) has resolved to include Nan Province in the Thai North and U-Thong District of Suphan Buri Province in the country's central region in a national network of sustainable tourism development areas.
According to DASTA's Acting Director Dr. Narik-atipak Sengsanit, other Thai tourist sites earlier included in the national network of sustainable tourism development areas are Chang Island in the Thai East, Chiang Mai Night Safari and Sukhothai - Si Satchanalai - Kampangpetch Historical Parks in the Thai North and Loei Province in the Thai Northeast, thanks to their high historical and cultural values.
Dr. Narik-atipak acknowledged that, DASTA will use a state budget of some 535 million baht, allocated from the government in the current 2012 fiscal year, to finance 16 projects on promoting sustainable tourism in the Thai designated areas. (TNA)
