NanoThailand 2012 held in Bangkok

BANGKOK, August 24 (TNA) - Thailand hosts the 9th International Conference on Nanotechnology 2012, (NanoThailand 2012), in Bangkok this week, as the Thai Ministry of Science and Technology says the Kingdom is now ready to become a nanotech leader in the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). Thai Science and Technology Minister Plodprasop Suraswasdi delivered a speech at the inaugural session of the 9th International Conference on Nanotechnology 2012 Thursday, in which delegates of 15 member countries of the Asian Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Association, including Thailand, participated, saying that the world now more focuses on nanotechnology and this week's conference is expected to result in expanded global cooperation in the advance innovative technology. Plodprasop acknowledged that Thailand has already adopted nanotechnology in the local food industry, medicine and agriculture, and that the country has worked out a 10-year nanotechnology national development plan, from 2012-2021, in parallel with a nanotechnology security and ethical strategic plan, aimed to boost the country's competitiveness, sustainable development and people's quality of life, as well as develop Thailand to become a leading nanotech hub in ASEAN.
