Narcotic problem ranked first for violence in Thailand:Poll

BANGKOK, June 30 (TNA) - A latest poll showed that most Thai people mentioned the narcotic problem as the worst form of violence in the country. The poll, conducted by the National Institute Development Administration (NIDA) and entitled “Top Five Forms of Violence In Thai Society” surveyed a total of 1,175 people across the country from June 26-29, 2012. The respondents were asked to rank the levels of severity of five forms of violence in the Thai society, namely the narcotic problem, violence among vocational students, corruption, political division and brawls in the Parliament, ranging from the least to the most severe. The survey found that 88.17 per cent of the respondents viewed the narcotic problem as the most severe form of violence in Thailand, the highest among the five forms of violence, followed by violence among vocational students at 82.97 per cent, corruption at 81.61 per cent, political division at 78.72 per cent and brawls in the Parliament at 77.28 per cent.
