Nasser bin Hamad chairs SCYS meeting

Manama, Dec. 14 (BNA): HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, stressed upon the importance of preserving achievements made in the areas of sports and youth in the Kingdom of Bahrain under the care received from HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the King of Bahrain, as well as the support received by HRH the Prime Minister and HRH the Crown Prince.
HH Shaikh Nasser's remarks came during a meeting of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, which was headed by HH and held at Bahrain National Stadium to discuss and review several new sport and youth initiatives as well as the results of different projects launched by government agencies, aimed at activating policies of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
HE Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, General Secretary of the Council, escalated sincere congratulations to HH Shaikh Nasser on the occasion of receiving ANOC Award and Social Media Influencer Award, confirming that these achievements underline the high ranking of HH Shaikh Nasser as an exceptional leader in setting an example for youth in various sectors, and as a sportsman succeeding in making great achievements during different events.
Meanwhile, HH Shaikh Nasser welcomed the Council members, praising their efforts in implementing the Council's policies and initiatives that are in line with HM the King's directives in the area of reinforcing Bahraini youth contributions towards the overall development in the Kingdom of Bahrain as well as making the desired leap that bolsters the Kingdom position on the international sports map and increase the awareness on sporting culture among the society in Bahrain.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa highlighted the importance of hard work and coordination between various government ministries and agencies to implement the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports policies, which is a general framework to enhance the youth sports movement. His Highness focused on the importance of establishing initiatives and programmes that implement those policies which go in accordance with ambitious plans foreseeing a bright future for the youth and the sports sector in the Kingdom.
HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa pointed out that the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports policies were set in line with the needs of upgrading the youth and sports sectors, which requires solidarity to achieve integration among all youth and sports platforms, thus reinforcing the development of outputs, using advance global experiences, which have contributed to the enrichment of the Supreme Council's policies for different fields.
Sports school project
The Council watched a presentation by HE Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi, Minister of Education, about a project to build a sports school which will work on presenting a comprehensive scientific and sports programme for students. In addition, two classes will be allocated daily in 8 boys and girls schools.
Al-Nuaimi presented the strategic goals for the sports school project, which will emphasize on keeping up with the student's scientific and sports developments, and select talented athletes based on modern scientific standards and refine their talents, through integrated training programmes under the supervision of qualified training personnel. This will create qualified players who can represent in national teams in the future.
He directed the Ministry of Education’s Council to prepare a study on allocating a boy's and girl's school in every governorate as a start for the launch of this project, and every school of the project will have an additional morning and night PE classes, in addition to having a healthy diet for students.
Girls’ sports centers project
Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, member of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, presented the Girls Sports Centers project in the Kingdom's governorate, with the aims to activate community partnerships in the field of women's sports, discovering new female sports talents, refine the competitive abilities of women and support national teams with talented female athletes.
She reviewed the proposed structure for the management overseeing the project, which includes representatives from the Ministry of Education, the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports, the Kingdom's four governorates and the Bahrain Olympic Committee. She also reviewed the results of coordinated meetings between various relevant authorities in order to listen to suggestions and generate ideas for the implementation of the project.
Proposal to form Youth Studies and Scientific Research Committee
Ali Sharafi, member in the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, presented a proposal to form a Youth Studies and Scientific Research Committee in the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports with the aim of presenting youth topics and cases through youth studies and scientific research to present the appropriate solutions for the policies of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
The Committee will also aim to conduct youth studies and scientific research specialized in dealing with different youth topics in cooperation with the related authorities and submit them to the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports. In addition, the committee will also study youth social issues and their effect on the youth, come up with suggestions and submit them to the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports.
Review of joint programmes for the implementation of the Supreme Council’s policies
HE Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, General Secretary of the Council, reviewed the main joint programmes between the council and various government authorities that aim to implement the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports policies, which aim to the development of youth and sports and social systems in the Kingdom.
HE Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, stressed on the importance of integration and coordination with various relevant authorities to achieve the goals of the Supreme Council, which aims to bring a sport lifestyle to the Bahraini society, by creating and developing legislations that aim to improve the youth and sports sector.
It also aims to organize major sports events for youth, provide modern sports facilities, enhance partnership with the private sector, prepare qualified leaders, encourage women’s participation and promote professionalism for administration work in the youth and sports sectors.
The General Secretary of the Council instructed Mr. Abdulrahman Askar, Assistant Secretary-General to supervise the cooperating ministries and authorities to follow up with their programmes.
New Stadium Discussed
Meanwhile, Engineer Ahmed Abdulaziz Al Khayyat, Undersecretary of Ministry of Works, Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning, gave a presentation on a new football stadium project.
The new 50,000 seater stadium will feature four training grounds as well as a shopping mall, as per the presentation. The Council members reviewed the stadium blueprint and discussed the names of the consultation offices suggested to bid for handling the project.
