Nasser bin Hamad popular heritage sports initiatives hailed

Manama, Nov. 6 (BNA): Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Romaihi the president of Bahrain Institute for Political Development (BIPD) praised the leading initiatives of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee in revitalization of Bahrain’s inherited popular sports heritage. This came as the minister on Tuesday received Khalifa Abdullah Al Qa’ood, Head of Popular Heritage Sports Committee, and expressed his appreciation of the committee efforts in implementation of the insightful vision of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad in organizing contests for traditional popular sports including sea activities, camel racing, equestrians, game hunting, shooting, the Heritage Knight Award and other national festivities that instill the patriotic spirit and pride in the Kingdom’s ancient national civilizational history, in the current youth and future generations. Al Romaihi affirmed the keenness of national audiovisual and electronic media channels and publications to cover these athletic activities and contests listed under the umbrella of the Nasser Bin Hamad Season for Popular Heritage Sports in harmony with the directives of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa the Principal Supporter of the nation’s culture and sports and the preservation of the folk heritage and cultural and civilizational identity of the Kingdom. The committee head expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the minister for his attention to the coverage of the committee’s sports activities in the various media channels. He lauded His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad’s keenness on supporting the popular heritage sports and engagement of youth in them as His Highness’s initiatives now ushers into an important phase by the launch of His Highness’s Heritage Knight Prize in Bahrain International Endurance Village on November 29-30.
