National Herbs Expo Begins

NONTHABURI, March 6 – The public health minister opened the 16th National Herbs Expo at the IMPACT exhibition and convention center, featuring alternative medicine and herbal products with up to 50% discounts. The expo was set for March 6-10 with focus on herbal products, Thai massage and awards for folk medicine and herbal products, including the Prime Minister Herbal Award. Opening the expo, Public Health Minister Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn said the Public Health Ministry and partners organized the expo to publicize the health and economic benefits of Thai herbs, traditional medicine and massage. The government aimed to promote Thailand’s exports of quality herbs and herbal products and list Thai massage as a cultural heritage with UNESCO, he said. Highlights of this year’s expo also include the medical use of marijuana, business matching concerning herbal products, herbal medicine formulas, folk and traditional medicine services, and about 500 booths of herbal and health products.
