NCC launches (Meeting a government official) initiative

Manama, Feb. 18 (BNA): The National Communication Centre (NCC) today held the regular meeting of the Government Communication Network at the Information Affairs Ministry’s complex, in the presence of representatives of ministries and government entities.
The meeting discussed the government’s communication plan for the month of March 2019, as well as the NCC’s role in coordinating and determining the communication priorities, in accordance with a work mechanism that is consistent with the goals of unifying the government’s media discourse through an effective communication system by activating partnership with all government entities.
NCC Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Mohammed Al Manna’i, during the meeting, announced the launch of the NCC’s initiative titled (Meeting a government official), which targets addressing a topic of concern to public opinion though a direct meeting via a local media outlet, to be a reference and a reliable source of news and information circulating through media and communication channels.
NCC’s Director of Communication and Media Relations, Fatima Al Sairafi, said a discussion session would be held on a regular basis with a government official to be a platform of communication between the government official and a number of local leading media and press opinion leaders. Where various topics concern citizens would be tackled.
Al Sairafi said the initiative reflects the NCC’s keenness to provide an active platform where issues of concern to public opinion are raised, which are currently limited to traditional media outlets, such as radio and TV.
She added the NCC headquarters would host the discussion sessions in the presence of media figures and a government official to discuss urgent issues that concern the public.
She said the government communication network has been briefed on enhancing communication efficiency among different government agencies during the past period, in addition to the progress of the comprehensive development process established by HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
She highlighted the NCC’s effort to raise awareness of the priorities of the Government Action Programme and building bridges of communication between government bodies and citizens to ensure the public championing of national interests.
Al Sairafi noted today’s meeting attached a great significance to promoting the government communication system and ways to maintain active communication between government bodies to contribute to gaining citizens’ confidence in government initiatives, which consequently would serve the national achievements.
The government communication network consists of representatives of communication and media managements. It holds its meetings on a regular basis to discuss government activities and projects in accordance with strategic perspectives for accentuating the government initiatives and accomplished development projects.
