Nearly two dozens illegal Myanmar, Cambodian immigrants nabbed
CHUMPHON, THAILAND, March 19 (TNA) - Officers of Thailand's Anti Human Trafficking Division (AHTD) have nabbed 20 illegal immigrants, 10 from Myanmar and 10 from Cambodia, in Chumphon Province in the Thai South, with preliminary probe finding that they were connected to a human trafficking ring.
The AHTD force, in cooperation with border patrol police and Chumphon police, intercepted and arrested the 20 illegal immigrants after Tuesday's midnight, when they arrived at Chumphon's Sawee train station. None of them possessed any legal immigration document.
First-hand interrogations found that a Thai and an alien middleman led the 20 illegal immigrants to board the southern train at Bangkok's main Hua Lamphong station, with the Cambodian immigrants destined for Surat Thani to meet with another middleman who would take them to work as construction workers in the Thai South and the other 10 Myanmar immigrants destined for Badang Besar in Songkhla Province, where they would also be picked up by another middleman to take them across the border to work in Malaysia.(TNA)
