New academic building of Caspian State University after name of Shahmardan Yessenov

Aktau, October 24, 2009 (Khabar) - Students and scientists from Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran took part in the opening ceremony. Aktau State University is 33 years old. In 2008 according to proposal of President Nazarbayev it was renamed into Caspian State University of Technology and Engineering after name of Shahmardan Yessenov. University rector Abdumutalip Abzhapparov noticed that the word “Caspian” gives an international status to the higher school. The study process is fully modernized and new laboratories with the modern equipment are opened. More than 7 thousand people study in the university today. About 500 of them came here from Caspian states.

- We prepare specialists for our region and we satisfy the whole demand on specialists. I mean mostly specialists of sea technologies and oil and gas.

The first even in the new building was the “Ecologic condition of Caspian Sea” conference. Scientists from Kazakhstan, Russia, Azerbaijan and Iran discussed the necessity of urgent measures on restoration of ecology.

Yuriy Pimenov, executive director of “Caspian states universities” Association:
- Issues of Caspian Sea could be solved only with common attempts. Of course the biggest problem now is the absence of legal division. But there are people who care about the nature and the wealth of Caspian Sea.

The result of the conference is the resolution that calls Caspian States to care about saving of the biggest lake in the world.
