New commemorative postcards for royal crematorium visitors
BANGKOK, Dec 14 (TNA) - New patterns of souvenir postcards will be handed out to visitors of the royal crematorium from Dec 15 onwards.
After the viewing period of the Royal Crematorium of His Majesty late King Bhumibol is extended to the year-end, additional souvenir postcards and pamphlets about the royal crematorium and related exhibitions in three languages – Thai, English and Chinese were printed for more visitors.
New nine pictures were selected to make the postcards in the second printing, said Culture Minister Culture Minister Vira Rojpojchanarat.
One pattern of the postcards will be given each day on a rotation basis.
The new designs include the portrait of the late King during his train trip to visit his subject, the royal crematorium's demonstration rice field, the royal cremation procession, the fire screen, depicting the Hindu god Vishnu, the sculptures of mythical creatures in the Himaphan forest at the pond, the Singha lion-like figure on the eastern side of the Royal Crematorium, Khon mask dance performance in front of the royal crematorium, the King’s favourite pet dogs, Khun Thong Daeng and Khun Jocho and the royal crematorium at night.
Besides adding the number of postcards, the traditional Khon performance, which is normally take places there on weekends, is now also held on Friday.
Meanwhile, a special Ramayana epic Khon mask dance will be performed in front of the Royal Merit-making Pavilion at 7 pm on Dec 30 and 31. (TNA)
