New data on Irtysh region’s history revealed
Pavlodar, June 01, 2009 (Khabar) - Fragments of medieval buildings, jugs, jewelry and other utensils items – all these testimonies of ancient times found themselves deep under a layer of soil until recently. Now they belong to science. Over the course of implementation of the “Historical and cultural heritage” program a good number of ancient stopping places, kubbas and sites of ancient settlements have been found and researched in the Pavlodar region and Auliyekol is, probably, the most unique one among them.
Timur Smagulov, head of archeological expedition of Pavlodar teachers college:
- The city’s culture had been developed here, remarkable buildings were constructed and irrigated cropping was also being developed here. This data allows for looking at the undiscovered pages of our region’s history from a completely different perspective.
A research officer of the Potanin museum Georgiy Peresvetov is studying the structure and peculiar features of Altay chariots which were used for burying Sakas kings, by means of three dimensional graphics. And this transport mean is called “shaitan kaiyk”. Ancient Kazakhs used it for fishing and hunting game animals. Today, a single-seater wooden boat can be found only in the everyday life of inhabitants of the Akkol-Zhaiylma area. Not long ago, scientists have accidentally come across the name of Kasym-kazhy Mustafauly. During the period of the Great Purge he was announced a public enemy and in 1933 he died in the Pavlodar prison. And only today it is being discovered as to what a genius he, actually, was. He attended an enlightenment school for boys; he had his own publishing house in Ufa and organized the first pedagogic community in Pavlodar. Before being put under arrest he managed to hide his library in the area of an old village called Shauken. These days, excavations are being held here as well.
