New Lao workers’ center opened in Mukdahan

MUKDAHAN, April 4 (TNA) -- A new facility for the registration of Lao migrant workers was opened in Mukdahan province. Labour Minister Adul Sangsingkeo opened the employment center with the presence of his Lao counterpart Khampheng Saysompheng. The new facility stands on Mukdahan-Don Tan Road in Sri Boonruang sub-district of Muang Mukdahan district. It educates legally imported Lao workers on their working conditions in Thailand including employment contracts, living conditions, recruitment processes, and workers’ rights. It was aimed at solving human trafficking. The facility also issues e-work permits. Earlier legal Lao workers had to pass through only one checkpoint in Nong Khai province. Pol Gen Adul said that his ministry guaranteed Lao workers and their employers received fair treatment for the sake of secure economic development. Lao Labour and Social Welfare Minister Khampheng said the new facility worked efficiently and helped support the development of both countries. (TNA)
