Newspapers Commend Qatar-Malta Investment Partnership, Future Cooperation

Doha, June 28 (QNA) - In their Tuesday's editorials, Qatari newspapers said that the session of official talks held by HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Republic of Malta George Vella will move the Qatari-Maltese relations towards a new stage of joint and constructive future cooperation in various fields for the interest of both countries. The newspapers pointed out that Qatar and Malta have shared visions on many current files and issues, and believe in the necessity of resolving all disputes between states or within a single state by peaceful means and through dialogue, in order to create an atmosphere of stability and prosperity and achieve international peace and security. In its editorial, Al-Raya said that common issues between the two countries were strongly present in the talks between HH the Amir and HE the Maltese President, in order to develop bilateral relations and push them to advanced stages of partnership, particularly in investment, education, culture and tourism spheres, in addition to a range of regional and international issues of common interest. The paper underlined that yesterday's talks session will inaugurate a new chapter of successful cooperation between the two friendly countries, which will be a prelude to further cooperation and mutual investment in the future, noting that Qatar seeks to build bridges of partnership and cooperation and forge new alliances with a number of friendly countries, foremost of which is Malta, due to its geographical proximity and strategic location. The Qatari daily said that the State of Qatar and Malta have strong and long-term friendly relations, and that the decision of the State of Qatar to open an embassy in the Republic of Malta on Nov. 20, 2013 contributed to strengthening the existing relations between the two countries in various fields, adding that there are many indicators and positive developments that herald the expansion of the cooperation between the two countries in order to achieve common interests and aspirations, and to develop and strengthen relations between the two countries in various fields. The paper explained that the Qatari-Maltese relations are based on the principles of mutual respect and common interests, and that these relations are witnessing great development in various fields and are constantly growing thanks to the common political will and desire, and the keenness of both sides to develop them for the benefit of the two countries and their friendly peoples. In conclusion, Al-Raya said that the Qatari-Maltese relations have witnessed tangible progress in various fields, especially in investment, and there are agreements and memoranda of understanding covering cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic, educational, cultural, investment and air transport fields, as well as in the field of news exchange, youth and sports and the promotion of mutual protection for investments. For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper affirmed in its Tuesday editorial that the State of Qatar continues its quest for openness and forging new fruitful partnerships with a number of countries in order to strengthen diplomatic relations and advance cooperation in a number of vital fields to achieve common interests and aspirations. The newspaper referred to the official talks session held between HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Republic of Malta George Vella at the Amri Diwan on Monday, in which they discussed the relations between the two friendly countries and ways of supporting and developing them, particularly in investment, education, culture and tourism spheres, in addition to a range of regional and international issues of common interest. Al-Sharq emphasized the keenness of the two countries to raise levels of cooperation and work to uncover possible investment opportunities in a number of important fields and mechanisms to enhance communication between businessmen from the two countries to enter into partnerships that serve the advancement of economic diversification mechanisms. The two sides share the same views regarding many current issues and believe in the necessity of resolving all disputes and problems between states or within a single state, by peaceful means and through dialogue, and that the mediating parties are at the same distance from the parties to the conflict, the paper noted. Concluding, Al-Sharq emphasized that the visit of HE President of the Republic of Malta to Doha and the discussions emanating from it will give a strong impetus to the relations between the two countries and also contribute to opening new horizons for cooperation to serve the common interests and the future of these relations at all levels. In its editorial, Al-Watan stressed that relations between Qatar and Malta are witnessing a great development in various fields, and are constantly growing thanks to the common political will and desire. The Qatari daily underlined the keenness of the two sides to develop these relations for the benefit of the two countries and their friendly peoples, at a time when the two countries are seeking to explore investment opportunities in each of them, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic receded.
