Newspapers Hail Qatar-Algeria Distinguished Relations

Doha, February 20 (QNA) - Qatari newspapers highlighted in their editorials Sunday the session of talks HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani will hold today at the Amiri Diwan with HE President of the sisterly People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who arrived on Saturday evening on a state visit to the country. The newspapers said that HE the Algerian President's visit to Doha and his meeting with HH the Amir represent a new impetus for a strong strategic partnership between the two countries, not only for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples, but also for the benefit of the Arab nation and its issues, stressing the great keenness of the two brotherly countries to strengthen and develop their partnership in all areas, and work to strengthen relations and advance them towards deeper horizons in order to serve the aspirations and interests of the two brotherly peoples. In its editorial, Al-Watan said that HH the Amir will hold today at the Amiri Diwan a session of talks with HE the Algerian President to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to support and develop them, in addition to the latest regional and international developments of common interest. Qatari - Algerian relations are distinguished, the paper said, noting the mutual visits and great interest in supporting and strengthening them. The paper also underlined the regular political consultations between the two countries at all levels, stressing that the mutual visits by senior officials are the best evidence of the exceptional relations between the two brotherly countries. The paper pointed out that Qatar is the largest Arab investor in Algeria, and accounts for 74 percent of all foreign investments in Algeria, noting that the recent period witnessed a significant increase in the volume of trade exchange between the two countries, with a desire to expand the volume of investments between the two countries, especially in the field of petrochemicals. The paper said that there are currently about 115 joint Qatari-Algerian companies, and that investment cooperation between the two countries witnessed great progress following the establishment of the Algerian Qatari Steel company in Algeria, which is considered one of the most important joint ventures in the region, with an investment cost exceeding USD 2 billion. In conclusion, Al-Watan said that the two countries share the desire to achieve security, peace and stability in the Arab world, and to reach a just, lasting and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause, through the implementation of international legitimacy resolutions, and the establishment of an independent state with Jerusalem as its capital, noting that HH the Amir's Talks with HE the Algerian President today will form a great opportunity to achieve the common interest of the two peoples and two countries, as well as the entire Arab world. Al-Sharq newspaper said that the Qatari-Algerian bilateral summit, to be held Sunday, to discuss bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to support and enhance them, in addition to the latest developments on the regional and international arenas of common interest, reflects the two countries' keenness to strengthen and develop their partnership to include all fields, and strengthen relations and advance them towards deeper horizons for the good, prosperity and development of the two countries to serve the aspirations and interests of the two brotherly peoples The newspaper said that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani led well-wishers to welcome HE President of the sisterly People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune upon his arrival and the accompanying delegation at Doha International Airport on Saturday evening on a state visit to the country. This confirms HH the Amir's interest in this visit, especially in light of the distinguished historical relations between the two countries, and their unified visions, common positions and firm principles towards bilateral and national interests, Arab and international issues and security and peace in the world, the paper added. Qatar is the largest Arab investor in Algeria, the paper said, noting that the joint investment cooperation between the two countries is witnessing great progress led by the "Algerian Qatari Steel" company in Algeria, one of the most important joint projects in the region, with an investment cost exceeding $2 billion. The historic visit of HH the Amir to Algeria in February 2020 contributed to the consolidation of cooperation between the two countries at all levels, especially at the economic and investment levels, the newspaper underlined. Al-Sharq concluded its editorial by saying that HE the Algerian President's visit to Doha and the bilateral summit with HH the Amir represent a new impetus for a strong strategic partnership between the two countries, not only for the benefit of the two brotherly peoples, but also for the benefit of the Arab nation and its issues. In its editorial on Sunday, the English-language newspaper The Peninsula affirmed that the State of Qatar and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria have enjoyed distinguished relations at various levels and in all fields since establishing diplomatic ties in 1972. The newspaper underlined that the solid relations of the two countries are based on factors that unite the Qatari and Algerian peoples of Arab and Islamic brotherhood and there exist a common vision of the leadership of the two countries on many Arab and international issues. The paper said that bilateral cooperation is witnessing a qualitative leap in different aspects thanks to the strong basis of mutual respect and continuous consultation and coordination on issues of common interest. The current visit of HE President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune to the State of Qatar comes within the framework of the distinguished historical relations between the two countries and the joint and continuous keenness to support and advance the bilateral cooperation towards deeper and new comprehensive horizons, the Qatari daily added. The newspaper pointed out that the talks that will take place during the visit will contribute to the development of relations between Doha and Algiers in various fields, noting that Algeria will be hosting the Arab Summit which is scheduled for March 22 in Algiers, as well the State of Qatar will host the 6th summit of the heads of member states of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum that will be held in Doha this week. The Peninsula said that these upcoming scheduled summits give the visit of HE President Tebboune an exceptional importance representing great opportunities for further consultations, coordination between the countries as they are among the largest producers and exporters of natural gas in the world and play pivotal roles within the framework of the League of Arab States and the region. The Qatari daily underlined the agreements, MoUs and protocols signed between Qatar and Algeria, which include cooperation in the fields of economy and trade, industry, energy, mining and investment, agriculture and tourism, health and sports, customs, maritime transport, and military cooperation, as well as the sectors of culture, media, urban planning etc. In conclusion, The Peninsula said that Qatar-Algeria common visions, positions and firm principles towards bilateral and national interests and towards regional and international issues are aimed at enhancing peace and security.
