Newspapers Highlight Qatari-Egyptian Rooted, Well-Established Relations

Doha, March 30 (QNA) - In their editorials on Wednesday, the newspapers affirmed that the Qatari-Egyptian relations are rooted, noting the significant positive impact reflected on the interests of the two countries, as these relations stem from the unity of goals and common destiny, and that the two countries constitute an important strategic dimension. The papers agreed that the two brotherly countries yearn to develop these relations and push them to broader fields and horizons to be a role model in the region for the integrative fraternal relations, noting Qatar's belief that the critical circumstances that the region is going through require strengthening the approach of dialogue and consultation with the people of Egypt in order to coordinate with the aim of reaching a common vision about dealing with challenges and in a manner that achieves the interests of the two countries and their peoples. In its editorial, Al-Sharq newspaper said that thanks to the political will and the great keenness of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and HE President of the Arab Republic of Egypt Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, the bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt have returned to their normal state, noting that the common political will contributed to the success of the efforts made in the past period, as well as the tireless work of the members of the joint bilateral committees emanating from Al-Ula statement, through which several agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed, and consensus was reached, to serve the interests of the two countries and their peoples. The paper highlighted the recent visits paid by HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani and HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, and Their Excellencies' meetings with Egyptian officials in Cairo. The paper underlined the significant impact these visits had on the partnership and relations between the two countries in terms of strengthening the cooperation at the political and economic levels, through the formation of a joint higher committee headed by the foreign ministers of the two brotherly countries with the aim of continuous consultation and strengthening cooperation and coordination in all fields, in addition to the agreement on a set of investments and partnerships in Egypt, totaling USD 5 billion in the coming period. The paper affirmed that these visits, as well as the agreements and fruition resulted by them, opened broad horizons for the two countries to strengthen cooperation at the political and economic levels, and to enhance communication between the two peoples, adding that this is a significant step that resulted in the renewal of the partnership between Doha and Cairo and drew a map to activate and deepen bilateral relations and move them to broader areas, in order to achieve the aspirations and ambitions of the two brotherly countries and their peoples. Al-Sharq newspaper concluded its editorial by saying that the renewal of the partnership between Qatar and Egypt will not only serve the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples, but will also reflect positively on the whole region, as well as on strengthening joint Arab action, given the regionally influential role of both countries and their efforts in supporting peace, security and stability in the region. Al-Raya stressed that the Qatari-Egyptian relations are deeply rooted and have significantly benefited both countries, as those relations stem from the unity of common goals and destiny. In this context, the newspaper underlined that HE President of the Arab Republic of Egypt met with HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, who conveyed the greetings of HH the Amir to HE the Egyptian President and His Highness' wishes of good health and happiness to him and further development and prosperity to the Egyptian people. The paper added that HE the President of the Arab Republic of Egypt entrusted HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs with his greetings to HH the Amir and his wishes of good health and happiness to His Highness and further progress and development to the Qatari people. The Qatari daily newspaper stressed the belief of the State of Qatar that the delicate circumstances the region is going through, require strengthening the approach of dialogue and consultation with the brothers in Egypt in order to reach a common vision in dealing with challenges and in a manner that achieves the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples. Al-Raya said that the talks of HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs in Egypt came to affirm the rising momentum of the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, which have returned to their normal state and their solid base, thanks to the keenness of the leadership in the two brotherly countries and the sincere efforts made in the past period. The paper said that HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs underlined that the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt have passed the difficult stage with open hearts and a future outlook, as the talks culminated in the formation of a joint high committee headed by the foreign ministers with aim of continuous consultation and strengthening cooperation and coordination in all fields. The Qatari daily pointed out that the past period following the Al-Ula Declaration witnessed the signing of a number of agreements and memoranda of understanding, in addition to consensus on the topics on the committees' agendas to serve the interests of the two brotherly countries and peoples. In this regard, the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt have agreed on a set of investments and partnerships in Egypt, totaling USD5 billion in the coming period, the paper added. The newspaper stressed that Qatar and Egypt have a common history, religious bonds and a common destiny, and are striving to prevent anything that may disturb the relations or endanger the security and stability of the region, because preserving the future of the region is everyone's responsibility. The paper underlined the intense diplomatic activity in Doha and Cairo recently in order to coordinate the positions at this delicate stage in the region, which requires consultation, coordination and cooperation between the two countries to serve their common interests. In conclusion, Al-Raya said that the sincere fraternal spirit between the two sides will pave the way for moving forward to address common challenges and promote joint Arab action. For its part, the English-language newspaper The Peninsula praised in its editorial Wednesday the announcement of the State of Qatar and the Arab Republic of Egypt that the two countries have decided to form a joint higher committee headed by the foreign ministers with the aim of continuous consultation and strengthening cooperation and coordination in all fields. The announcement of the formation of a joint higher committee between the two countries will definitely be welcomed as good tidings, as the region can expect renewed efforts by the two influential and powerful countries in resolving long-running disputes and conflicts in several countries, the paper said. The Peninsula affirmed that Doha never left any stone unturned in its quest for regional peace and to ensure a cordial and brotherly relations with its immediate neighbors and countries in the region. During a meeting on Tuesday, between HE Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, HE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, and HE Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, both sides agreed on investments of USD 5 billion in the coming period in Egypt, the newspaper said. The Peninsula concluded its editorial by affirming that the agreement will take the renewed relationship to new highs, and that the decades-old experience and diplomacy of both countries combined will bring several breakthroughs in different regional issues, especially the Palestinian cause, conflict in Libya, crisis in Lebanon to name a few.
