Newspapers Highlight Qatar's Continued Support for Yemen
Doha, June 17 (QNA) - The newspapers highlighted in their editorials today the Qatari-Yemeni relations, and the permanent and continuous Qatari support for Yemen, which reflects the close historical relationship between the two countries, based on the fact that the security, stability, relief and development of Yemen is a top priority for Qatar.
The newspapers indicated the Yemeni leadership's keenness to strengthen relations between the two countries and inaugurate a new phase that opens the door towards partnership and strengthens brotherly relations between the two countries, in a way that enhances common interests and achieves the hopes of the two peoples.
For its part, Al-Raya newspaper stressed in its editorial that the Qatari-Yemeni relations have always been an example for the relations between brothers. .
The newspaper added that the State of Qatar has never failed to extend a helping hand to the brotherly Yemeni people, who are facing exceptional circumstances and successive crises due to famine, health crisis and security crises that have weighed on their shoulders. In this context HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani met, in his office at the Amiri Diwan yesterday, HE Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council President Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al Alimi, and the accompanying delegation on the occasion of their visit to the country.
Al-Raya explained that the meeting reviewed the bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries, and ways to develop and strengthen them in various fields. HE Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council also briefed HH the Amir on the latest developments in the situation in Yemen, in addition to discussing a number of regional and international issues of common interest.
Al-Raya affirmed Qatar's keenness to end the suffering of the Yemeni people, in its belief in the right of Yemenis to live in security and peace after they suffered from the worst humanitarian catastrophe in the modern era.
The newspaper pointed out that Qatar has supported the initiatives and efforts of the United Nations, represented by the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General to Yemen, to advance the solution through dialogue, and Qatar has been at the forefront of countries supporting the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Assistance, and Qatar welcomed the agreement of the parties to the Yemeni crisis a few days ago to extend armistice.
The newspaper noted that the Qatari position on Yemen has always been consistent, as it views the truce with great importance, as it will constitute a motive for all actors in the Yemeni cause towards a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire, and the involvement of all in the comprehensive political path and national reconciliation, in order to achieve the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people in security, stability and prosperity, noting that there is no way to resolve the Yemeni crisis except through dialogue based on the Gulf initiative and relevant Security Council resolutions.
The newspaper concluded by saying: "Qatari humanitarian aid to brotherly Yemen has not stopped, and HH the Amir directed in July last year to allocate USD 100 million in support of the World Food Program in Yemen of the United Nations to support food security and stave off famine there to crown this pioneering Qatari humanitarian presence in Yemen."
For its part, Al-Sharq newspaper confirmed that the current visit of HE Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council President Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al Alimi, and his numerous meetings in Doha, reflect the keenness to strengthen relations between the two countries and inaugurate a new stage that opens the door towards partnership and strengthening the brotherly relations between the two countries, in a way that promotes common interests and achieves the hopes of the two peoples.
The newspaper added: "The meeting of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, with HE Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council President Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al Alimi, and his accompanying delegation, as well as the meeting of HE Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al-Thani, is an important step in the way of strengthening and developing bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries in various fields".
The newspaper noted that the State of Qatar has played a prominent role in providing all forms of support to the brotherly Yemeni people at all different stages in order to maintain its unity, security and stability, based on its firm and supportive stance for Yemen's unity and territorial integrity, and the continuous efforts made by the United Nations to achieve sustainable peace in Yemen.
Al-Sharq made it clear that Qatar is always keen to provide full and continuous support to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and help the brotherly people of Yemen to overcome the difficult conditions that burden them.
The newspaper concluded that Qatar has always supported all international efforts aimed at resolving the crisis through dialogue and achieving peace, as the way to end humanitarian crises, improve the humanitarian situation in Yemen, and move the country to a more stable and prosperous future.
For its part, Al-Watan confirmed that the Qatari role in Yemen has always been based on a basic principle, which is to support the interests of the Yemeni people, and this matter has been present in all the turbulent stages that Yemen has experienced, and is currently embodied in the Qatari position in support of Yemen, its government and people in the face of this crisis.

The newspaper said: The visit of HE Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council President Dr. Rashad Muhammad Al Alimi, to Doha comes in exceptional circumstances, and the Qatari-Yemeni relations have entered a new phase of cooperation and coordination towards various issues, and it mainly aims to strengthen the relations of the two countries and move them towards broader horizons of partnership, fruitful cooperation and discussion of many issues of common interest.
Al-Watan added that over half a century, the Yemeni-Qatari relations have witnessed important transformations and a remarkable development, punctuated by cooperation and coordination of positions, and achieved fruitful results, which made it a model in Arab relations. (QNA)
