Newspapers: World Cup Unique Experience in Building Bridges of Communication
Doha, March 23 (QNA) - In their editorials on Wednesday, Qatari newspapers underlined the State of Qatar's belief in humanitarian efforts based on desire and self-motivation, and its keenness on the participation of all segments of society in the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, the most important sport event at the global level.
The newspapers hailed HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani's welcome to all the volunteers of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and HH's wishes for them and those who will participate in the first tournament of its kind in the region an outstanding experience.
The papers pointed out that the State of Qatar is witnessing today a great sport renaissance today, as it will host the FIFA World Cup 2022 which is now less than a year away from now, noting that the country has prepared a comprehensive national plan to deal professionally with the requirements of hosting this tournament, which attracts the attention of hundreds of millions around the world.
Al-Watan daily said that in a tweet on HH the Amir's official account, HH the Amir welcomed all the volunteers of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and wished them and those who will participate in the first tournament of its kind in the region a unique experience through which they discover the richness and tolerance of Arab culture, and the keenness to build bridges of communication with different cultures and peoples, and that this is one of the main goals of hosting the championship.
His Highness's welcome reflects Qatar's belief in humanitarian efforts based on desire and self-motivation, and its keenness on the participation of all segments of society in the most important sport event at the global level, the paper said, adding that it also reflects Qatar's keenness to offer visitors an unforgettable experience, starting from the airport to the hotels, and introduce them to Qatar's hospitality, its wonderful human culture and its authentic heritage, in an atmosphere full of friendliness, fun and unique memories during this sport event.
The paper also said that His Highness' welcome to the volunteers reflects a lot of what Qatar attaches to their role and activity, as the Volunteer Programme will witness the participation of 20,000 male and female volunteers to be ambassadors for Qatar, its culture, values and heritage, and the first front for all visitors, who will discover a hospitable people who believe in peace, dialogue, and harmony among all peoples through a football festival.
In conclusion, Al-Watan expressed certainty that the volunteers will play a key role in the success of this great event, and in building bridges of communication with different cultures and peoples, which is one of the main goals of hosting the tournament, as HH the Amir emphasized.
In turn, The Peninsula commended in its editorial on Wednesday the efforts of local and international organizers in the preparations to host millions of sports people, dignitaries, officials and most importantly fans during FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
The State of Qatar started the country's biggest Volunteer Programme inviting applications from aspiring volunteers from around the world to join the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 organizers, the paper indicated.
More than 20,000 volunteers are expected to play their role in the successful conduct of the event, the paper said, adding that during an event organized at the Katara Amphitheatre, FIFA President Gianni Infantino aptly said to the volunteers: "You are the first face, the first smile that any visitor to Qatar will find when they arrive. Thanks to you, we can show the entire world that Qatar, the Gulf region and whole Arab world is welcoming the planet for an incredible experience here in November and December this year. The world will unite in Qatar and celebrate a peaceful, wonderful and unforgettable event."
Moreover, The Peninsula said that Qatar's World Cup will be a unique opportunity for thousands of people to express their noble values, and that it will be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to become part and leave one's own mark in one of the mega international events. Volunteers are an integral part of any event as they promote community involvement and help organisers to present a smooth, hassle-free event for attendees and hosts, the paper affirmed.
Furthermore, volunteers play vital role in sport events too as they offer a wide knowledge base, cultural diversity, language skills etc in tasks such as liaising with visitors, including participating teams and dignitaries, working with media, security personnel, spectators etc, the paper pointed out.

The newspaper underlined that attention is now turning towards Doha, as it gears up for the final draw for FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 that will take place on April 1, thus, it reaches the last stage before the start of the tournament in next November.
It also noted that preparations for the final draw are in full swing, as fans and teams will find out their paths towards the title at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center at which time 29 out of the 32 participants will be known.
The final draw procedures outline that the 28 qualified teams will be allocated according to sporting principles to pots 1 to 4 based on the FIFA world ranking to be released on March 31 following the conclusion of the international match window, the paper said, adding that as hosts, Qatar will take position A1 from Pot 1, where they will be joined by the seven highest-ranked qualified teams from the FIFA world ranking.
The paper emphasised that millions of football fans around the world have a dream of traveling to Qatar, which will host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, noting that 17 million ticket requests were received in the first sales period, which lasted just 20 days. The second phase (first-come first-served period) of the ticket sales will start after the group stage draw for the World Cup, the paper added.
Al-Raya concluded by saying that with the countdown to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 accelerating, the pace of preparations in Qatar began in full swing in order to provide an exceptional experience that would allow football fans from different countries of the world to enjoy football fun in Qatar, which pledged to organise the first carbon-neutral tournament that considers the principle of sustainability.
