NHRC Deputy Chairman Calls for Concerted Efforts to Spread Environmental Awareness

Doha, March 23 (QNA) - HE Deputy Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee Dr. Mohammad Saif Al Kuwari called for concerted efforts to spread environmental awareness and make environmental hygiene a sustainable lifestyle. HE Al Kuwari noted that the State of Qatar has huge number of rich and attractive parks and beaches where the public find a haven for rest and relaxation, therefore ensuring the cleanliness of these public properties is a social responsibility. In remarks during a campaign to clean Al-Wakra beach, organized by the National Human Rights Committee on Wednesday, Al Kuwari underlined that the cleanliness of the environment is everyone's responsibility, calling for concerted community efforts to spread and strengthen environmental hygiene behavior among all members of society. He underlined that these initiatives contribute greatly to bringing about a positive change towards achieving a healthy and sustainable environment, noting the importance of community awareness to achieve these goals. Al Kuwari noted that the objectives of this campaign are to promote and spread environmental awareness of the importance of volunteering in the service of the environment, and to promote environmental hygiene behavior among all segments of society. He valued the great awareness and educational efforts undertaken by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, pointing to the effective response by the society in general. The campaign to clean Al-Wakra beach comes within the activities and events accompanying the study of the right to the environment (air and water rights and quality) which is prepared by the NHRC. The study focuses on spreading awareness of the importance of preserving the natural environment and limiting wrong behaviors against the environment. (QNA)
