NIHR chief receives French, German ambassadors

Manama, Jan. 8 (BNA): Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Maria Khoury, received here today the French and German Ambassadors to Bahrain, Cécile LONGÉ and Kai Boeckmann.
NIHR’s Vice Chairman, Abdulla Ahmed Alderazi, and Secretary-General, Dr. Khalifa bin Ali Al-Fadhel, were present.
Khoury lauded the depth of the kingdom’s relations with friendly France and Germany.
She gave a briefing about the main achievements and challenges in the field of human rights in the kingdom, and highlighted the role of the NIHR in dealing with them, which, she said, has contributed to making Bahrain a role model for human rights practices.
The envoys welcomed the NIHR’s humanitarian work, lauding the winning of the NIHR’s Secretariat-General of the ISO certificate, the first human rights institution to receive the honour at the regional level.
They stressed the importance of activating cooperation and coordination between their countries and Bahrain in the human rights fields, for the best interests of every one.
