NIHR chief receives IOM official

Manama, Jan. 7 (BNA): Chairperson of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Maria Khoury, has commended the efforts exerted by the office of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in putting forward action plans to deliver humanitarian and financial aid and provide a better life for many segments that need it, stressing the NIHR’s keenness to cooperate with all local, regional or international organisations to support IOM’s projects to achieve common goals. She made the statements while receiving here IOM’s Regional Programme Manager, Mohamed El Zarkani, with whom she discussed regional issues of mutual interest, and the role played by the NIHR through its constant contacts with the relevant authorities to be updated about the facts and developments, in order to ensure the continuity of the human rights march in the kingdom. El Zarkani appreciated the tremendous efforts exerted by the NIHR to consolidate and protect human rights in the kingdom. He also hailed the NIHR’s contribution to providing support for expatriate workers and combating trafficking in persons, highlighting the kingdom’s remarkable international achievements in this regard.
