NIHR receives British Prime Minister’s personal representative

Manama, Feb. 17 (BNA): National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR)'s President Ali Ahmed Al Derazi received Lord Tariq Ahmad of Wimbledon, Personal Representative to the British PM, Minister for South and Central Asia, United Nations and the Commonwealth at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Al Derazi stressed the depth of the historical relations between Bahrain and UK and the need to continue strengthening relations in various fields. He affirmed exchanging experiences in human rights and working to develop the human rights system and put it into practice in accordance with international and regional regulations. NIHR president presented the institute work and the role it plays in promoting and protecting human rights, and its efforts in following up on the human rights situation during the pandemic. Lord Tariq expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the NIHR in promoting and protecting human rights in Bahrain, stressing the importance of these institutions in supporting and protecting this important sector.
