NIHR receives US delegation

Manama, Apr. 18 (BNA): The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) received a US Congressional Staff delegation. NIHR’s chief commissioner Maria Khoury welcomed the delegation, praising the Bahrain-US friendship ties. She briefed the guests about the National Institution’s role in protecting and boosting human rights, offering advice on human rights issues to the constitutional authorities, monitoring the human rights situation in Bahrain. She praised Bahrain’s human rights strides at various levels. Bahrain ranked in the US Department of State report among the first-class countries combating the crime of trafficking in persons. The delegation posed questions and obtained answers regarding the National Institution’s work jurisdiction.
